Microblading: What Is It & Why Do I Want It?

Are you constantly filling your eyebrows with gels and pencils, only to have the makeup fall off hours later. Try microblading if you want to stop fighting with your brows!

Microblading is a makeup alternative that not only hurts much less than you might think but also comes with stunning outcomes. Here’s what you can expect from an appointment and why you’ll love the long-lasting results!

What Is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of permanent makeup that creates the look of full, defined eyebrows. The process uses a pen-like tool with roughly a dozen small needlepoints at the end of a blade to place a pigment below the skin where the brows need colour and definition.

A trained professional will plant the medical-grade ink in super-fine strokes on the top layer of the skin. The needles let the aesthetician lightly scratch the surface for the pigment rather than place it below most of the layers of your skin (as you would with a tattoo).

These strokes create the appearance of very realistic, very natural-looking hair, and microblading will help you get the shape and fullness you’ve always wanted to achieve.

What Does Microblading Feel Like?

Microblading is not a very painful experience, but it can be slightly uncomfortable for some clients. We start by showing you where we’ll apply the pigment, then numb the brow area so you won’t feel any discomfort that can accompany the procedure. Once you’re comfortable, we begin the process! You might hear some light scratching, but that’s just the sound of you getting well-defined eyebrows.

Because it involves opening the skin – even ever-so-slightly – you must follow some aftercare rules:

  • Use an antibacterial ointment on your brows for the first 24 hours and then a gel for a week.
  • Do not get your brows wet or sweaty. If you can’t live without a workout, protect the pigment by covering your brows with ointment. It’ll keep the cuts clean and bacteria-free.
  • Do not pick at any of the scabs that form from the tiny cuts.
  • Avoid using acids or retinoids that could fade your ink while the cuts heal.

Why Do I Want Microblading?

The microblading specialists at Enhanced Esthetics can create the appearance of naturally full brows on any skin tone with any shade range. It’s an incredible way to enhance eyebrows and the ideal solution for those of us with little-to-no eyebrow hair. We can create any desired shape, with the hair-like strokes looking indistinguishable from your genuine eyebrow hairs.

Microblading is also almost maintenance-free. It might sound like getting an eyebrow tattoo, but microblading does not go all that deep into the layers of the skin when planting the pigment.

While it is “permanent” by the aesthetic industry’s standards, it’s not fully permanent. Microblading fades after about a year and a half, depending on your skin type (sometimes it lasts a year, others will have the effects last for three years). It’s quite a long time to have your eyebrows looking their best 24/7!
